NOW HIRING - VETERINARIAN
Gem City Vet is seeking a full-time Veterinarian to expand the hours of our non-profit veterinary clinic in Trotwood, Ohio. The goal of Gem City Vet is to help Dayton reduce the overpopulation of pets by making veterinary services more accessible to everyone and keeping pets in their homes. Gem City Vet is operated by Gem City Kitties, a 501(c)3 nonprofit.
Gem City Vet opened our facility in Trotwood in 2021 with reduced hours on Sunday and Monday. After years of refining our operations, we are seeking to expand our hours to be open additional weekday hours. We are looking for a Veterinarian who is interested in animal welfare and enjoys the personal satisfaction of serving a population who may not otherwise have the means to provide for their pet’s veterinary care. Our ideal candidate is excited about creating a more compassionate community as well as alleviating pain and suffering through high-quality care at affordable prices. Our goal is to keep pets comfortable and in homes where they are loved.
We are passionate about minimizing fear, anxiety, stress and pain for our patients. Team members in our clinic will be responsible for providing service and communication to clients, members of the public, co-workers, and patients that is as closely aligned with Fear Free standards as possible, although our high-volume operations limit being fully Fear Free certified.
Our facility currently provides wellness services only, so this position will not require surgery, emergency care, or after-hours calls.
The Veterinarian will report to the Executive Director. We place a high value on a positive workplace and maintaining an environment which avoids burnout. Our turnover rates are exceptionally low and we are happy to provide opportunities for conversations with existing employees, as well as a paid working interview, to answer questions about our atmosphere and policies. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, we qualify for student loan forgiveness programs, as allowed by current regulations.
SCHEDULE + COMPENSATION: $120,000 - $142,000, depending on experience. Full-time with the opportunity to set our hours around the candidates preferred work schedule. We are ideally looking for Monday - Friday, or Tuesday through Thursday as 4-10’s, but are open to discussing different options. CE reimbursement allowance included.
